    Bedlinen

Whether you like simple plain white bedding or something bold and bright, we have a great collection of bed linen for you to choose from. You will find bed linen sets that allow you to coordinate every item of bedding in the same style, as well as high-quality Egyptian cotton bed linen worthy a five-star hotel.

Updating your bedding with something as simple as a new bedspread or throw is a great way to add a breath of fresh air to your room without redecorating it. You can change the look and feel of your bedroom to go with the seasons too. Warmer colours like oranges and reds during autumn and winter make a room feel cosy and welcoming, while brighter colours like blues and greens refreshen up a room for spring and summer.

    How to Choose Bed Linen

At Scotts of Stow, we are passionate about brining you the finest quality bed linen because a good night’s sleep is an essential part of life. Choosing bedding is different for everyone but these four key areas on how to choose your bed linen will help you get started:

     1.     Pick your size

We have a wide range covering single, double, king and super-king sizes available.

    2.     Decide on your colour scheme

You will find everything from calming neutrals to bright, bold patterns.

    3.     Choose the material and finish, including thread count

Think about whether you would like an easy-care synthetic material or really comfortable cotton bed linen.

    4.     Find your perfect style

From housewife pillowcases and oxford pillowcases to flat sheets and fitted sheets, there are plenty of different styles for you to choose from.

    Choosing Bed Linen Sets

Choosing bed linen sets is made easy at Scotts of Stow. When you browse the collection and see a particular colour or style you like, such as a patterned pillowcase for example, you can click through on the product and see all the recommended duvets, bedspreads and any other bedding that match the style.

Shopping bed linen sets is ideal if you have already got a colour or pattern in mind. When you see the bedding you like it is easy to buy everything on one go instead of sourcing each item separately. In our sets you will find linen bed sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, bedspreads and even curtains.

    Choosing Pillows and Pillowcases

When it comes to choosing pillows and pillowcases for your bed, it all comes down to personal preference. We have luxurious down pillows that give you great support and comfort throughout the night and are hugely popular due to how long lasting they are. We also have synthetic pillows that are easy to maintain as you can put them through a washing machine cycle at home and are lightweight and easy for you to move around the bed as you change sleeping position.

Once you have chosen your pillow then it is time to consider the pillowcase it goes in. We have housewife and oxford fits to choose from. Housewife pillowcases are fuss-free with a functional sewn edge that tucks and holds standard pillows in place. Oxford pillowcases are made with an additional fabric border that surrounds all four edges of the standard case, offering a more decorative pillowcase that appears to have a larger overall size. Both housewife and oxford pillowcases are equally functional, so your choice really comes down to personal preference.

Choosing Duvet Covers & Bed Sheets

For duvet covers and linen bed sheets, there are a few points you need to consider. This includes the size of the bed, the material you are looking for and your budget. If you are after something fuss-free, then our 200 and 1000 thread count duvet covers come with hand holes in the corners so the duvet can be pulled up and into it with ease. We have plenty of bed sheets available too, including flat sheets and fitted sheets that effortlessly fit onto your mattress.

All duvet covers, as well as the rest of our bed linen, are available in various materials including 100% cotton and polycotton. Synthetic materials like polycotton are easy to maintain as polycotton does not need ironing, whereas 100% cotton bedsheets are super soft and gentle on sensitive skin. Do not be afraid to mix different fabrics for your needs, for example a flannelette duvet cover can keep you warm and cosy while a 100% cotton pillowcase allows your hair and skin to breathe.

What is the Best Quality Bed Linen?

When you think of the best quality linen, you are probably thinking luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen that feels silky smooth on your skin. But the best quality linen is really something that matches what you want. Whether you are looking for luxury bed linen for your master bedroom or white bed linen to use in your guest room for times when your family come to visit, we have a wide range of bedding to suit all your needs.

    Bed Linen Thread Counts

Bed linen thread count reveals the number of horizontal and vertical threads in one square inch of fabric. While it is true that the higher the thread count the more luxurious the bed linen feels, it is important to know that even a 200 thread count feels soft and is very durable.

We offer a range of thread counts:

    • 200 thread count is high-quality and feels crisp and cool on your skin.
    • 400 thread count has double the density, resulting in a smoother and silkier feel.
    • 600 thread count has an opulent feel, giving the fabric a fine lustre.
    • 1000 thread count is a deluxe sateen woven bed linen that feels ultra-soft and smooth.
    • 1500 thread count is our highest quality bedding that has a supreme heavy weight so you can really feel the quality.

    Bed Linen Weaves

When it comes to buying bed linen, it is helpful to understand the different weaves as well as the various fabrics available. Here are some of the most common weaves:

    Percale

Percale is a plain weave that is closely woven and has a noticeably tight appearance. It has a smooth, matt finish that feels crisp against your skin. It is highly breathable and cool to sleep on making it a popular fabric to use in the summer.

    Satin

Satin is normally made from synthetic materials like nylon, polyester or acetate. The material is tightly woven or knitted together to give a silky, smooth finish.

    Sateen

Sateen is not the same as satin, although the luminous sheen does produce a similar appearance. A sateen weave has more vertical threads than horizontal resulting in exceptionally soft, but delicate, bed linen. Sateen has a silky touch making it a fine choice if you are after something more luxurious.

    Jacquard

The jacquard weave is well-known for its elaborate embroidery or embellishment. The weave is produced on a jacquard loom and is generally used as a decorative touch to bedlinen.

    100% Cotton Bed Linen

100% cotton bed linen is well known for its softness and breathability. As cotton is a pure, natural material, the fabric is completely breathable which is especially useful for those with sensitive skin. It also helps regulate your body temperature during your sleep cycle, keeping you cool and comfortable throughout the night.

Cotton bedding is incredibly strong too, which means you will not have to replace it as often as synthetic alternatives. Maintenance is generally low so there is no need for handwashing nor ironing.

    Silk Bed Linen

Silk is synonymous with luxury because it is light and soft on your skin. Its natural properties wick away excess moisture from your body, which is why many people choose to have a silk pillowcase as it is kind to your hair and face.

Silk bed linen is an ideal choice during winter as it incredibly warm, without being too heavy on your body. You can machine wash this bedding at home on a low heat cycle, making it a great choice for your everyday use.

    Polycotton Bed Linen

Polycotton is favoured by many for its fantastic durability. It is perfect for everyday use as it requires minimal ironing and will last even after repeated machine washing at 40°C.

We have all the polycotton bed linen you could need including flat sheets, fitted sheets, extra-deep fitted sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. All of course available in a range of sizes from single to super-king.

    Flannelette Bed Linen

Flannel is a fairly heavyweight material that is made from brushed cotton, resulting is an exceptionally soft, velvet-like texture. The brushed finish can be on one or both sides of the material, creating a ‘fuzzy’ finish that feels soft on your skin.

Flannelette bed linen keeps you cool in the summer but cosy in the winter, making it an ideal choice for use all-year round.
